Color of Pain

Daily Prompt from Writers Write
"Write about the color of pain"

Pain is an awful color, one that has no beauty in it. Some would say it's black, but I disagree. Black is a melodramatic, yet still beautiful portrayal of pain. We use black as a way to show our pain, let others see. But in reality, it is not the true color.
Pain is an ugly color; a mixture of sorrow, heartbreak, betrayal, and lost love. It is not a color that anyone would chose to paint with, no in fact it is the color you get when you mix all the paints together on the canvas. The color that shows up as you try to cover mistake after mistake, memory after memory, until all that is left is covered in the ugly, awful, painful color and you have no choice but to pick up another canvas and start anew.
But you can't. Because in this life, we are each given only one canvas, so try as you might to cover it up, it's always there. Always beneath the picture that could be beautiful, if it had been painted first.
Finally, you can't continue. You cry out for help. And Help comes. He takes your brush, dips it in His blood, and covers your canvas. You expect it to turn red, mixing and mingling with pain, but instead, as you watch, everything disappears. All the pictures you've painted, and the pain that distorted them. You have a blank canvas again, and you can't believe it. You know that the pain color used to be there, but you can't see it any longer. Though you look as hard as you can, and you can't find it. He has washed away the pain and mistakes of your past, and left you again with a blank canvas. He hands you the brush, and you see the blood on His hands. You know that He has shed His blood for you, so that you could start fresh with your blank canvas. And you become determined, you know that no matter how hard it is, or how much work it takes, you are going to create whatever He asks you to. And you will do it in a way that makes Him proud. Because in that moment, you care only about pleasing Him.
